INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON THE EMERGENCE OF AFRICA FROM MARCH 18 TO 20 IN ABIDJAN: THE GOVERNMENT IS MOBILIZING AMBASSADORS AROUND THE EVENTS

2015-03-01   |

The Senior Minister, Minister of Planning and Development, Mr. Albert Mabri Toikeusse, invited ambassadors accredited to Côte d’Ivoire to a breakfast on March 3in Abidjan to ask them to "get mobilized and to mobilize" to take part in the International Conference on the Emergence of Africa, to be held from March 18 to 20, 2015 in Abidjan. According to the Senior Minister, this meeting, which will gather Heads of State and Government from Africa and around the world, representatives of multilateral institutions and national and international experts, will focus on "how to get the most out of Africa’s strong growth for its people".
For UNDP Resident Representative Babacar Cissé, the conference is a platform for dialogue and exchange between developed countries, emerging countries and African countries aspiring to emergence and those already engaged in this process.
The challenge is to define the processes and conditions, not always well controlled, which eventually lead to emergence. The Ivorian government intends to draw inspiration from the resolutions of this conference to move resolutely towards emergence by 2020, said the Senior Minister.
It should be noted that Côte d’Ivoire is organizing this conference in partnership with the World Bank (WB) and the African Development Bank (AfDB), with the technical support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
