How to make private investment a driver of economic growth and structural transformation? This is one of the topics debated in the panels on the second day of the international conference on the emergence of Africa held in Dakar from 17 to 19 January 2019.

Moroccan Deputy Minister for African Cooperation Jazouli Mohcine said that "we must set up an attractive tax system to make the country a hub for investors".

In addition, according to Jazouli, it is necessary to open up to the other countries of the continent in order to benefit from the importance of the African market, which repreqsents more than one billion consumers now. He also stressed the need for states to support the SMEs which create most of the wealth in a country by providing a guarantee fund.

As for Mr. Kossi Felix Edoh Amenounv, Director General of the WAEMU Regional Stock Exchange, a greater role must be given to the financing sources in the continent. This will create, according to him, a virtuous circle of wealth creation in Africa.

Ali Koray Erden, Deputy General Manager of Eximbank Turkey, small and medium-sized enterprises are important because they form the basis of African economies. They contribute to job creation and growth. His country is planning to put in place a strategy aimed at penetrating the African market through SMEs.
